Harry and Loui proud holders of the black belt

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL SJK STUDENTS ON A SUCCESSFUL GRADING

Over 70 kyu grade students graded for different coloured belts on Sunday 5th December and all successfully passed the various grades.

Following the Kyu grades with some dynamic and explosive action was the black belt grading of Harry Bradford  and Loui Loizou - both performed to the highest level and passed with flying colours

Harry aged 8 is the youngest student of SJK to pass his black belt since the school started in 1978. He is probably one of the youngest karate students in the country to have passed his black belt

Loui returned to train at SJK a couple of years ago after a 20 year lay off. With determination he has trained very hard several times a week and helped with the junior classes and thoroughly deserved to pass his black belt grading

New class by Sensei David and Lilian

GENTLE KARATE / SELF DEFENCE FOR THE OVER 40'S

Do something you have always wanted to do it's never too late to take up our new system of "Gentle Karate" and Self Defence for over 40's.

A leisure pursuit that keeps your body and heart in good shape. Men and women of 40+ regularly taking this type of exercise can help prevent heart attacks and osteoporosis, also preventing strokes, obesity and depression. The health benefits are enormous. Continued practise in this system of gentle karate exercise will improve flexibility, speed up reflexes and promote self confidence.

Classes are taken by the experienced husband & wife team David &Lilian Alleyn who have been training in karate/self defence for more than thirty years and remain active and healthy through many years of karate practice.
David is a 6th Dan Black Belt in Karate, lst Dan in Jujitsu and holds a Diploma in Sports Psychology.

Lilian is a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Karate, 1st Dan in Jujitsu, and Cert. Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The classes are run at a slower pace than normal - a sort of "karate without the fighting", which involves all the aspects of karate but at a more gentle pace under strict control and in a careful step-by-step way, helping  to defend yourself.

These classes are also for the more mature karate student of 40+ who would like to "get back to karate" after a long lay off. Advanced kata can be learned and practised at a slow pace with correct breathing.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO ATTEND A 4-WEEK INTRODUCTORY COURSE WHICH IS ONLY £24 AND INCLUDES FREE INSURANCE COVER. THIS IS A NEW CLASS - PLACES WILL BE LIMITED  - CONTACT DAVID OR LILIAN ON 020 8368 6249

Dear Sensei David and Sensei Lilian,

Just to say a huge thank you for all the work you do amongst young people.  My son Stephen is over the moon at having passed his 9th kyu today and we are very proud of him too.  He really looks forward to his karate lessons on Fridays at Broomfield School.   Karate has helped him no end in boosting his confidence, improving his co-ordination and making him more physically fit.

Many thanks and gratitude to you and the other instructors who have helped during the past year.

Chris Chessum
